With Phase 1 of the SMITE Console League complete, it’s almost time for our mid-season relegations to begin! All aspiring Xbox and PS4 teams in the NA and EU regions are invited to hit the Battleground and see if they have what it takes to make the cut.
In this short guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about the qualification process for the Phase 2 of the SMITE Console League and how you can participate! For more information on the league’s structure, check out our blog post detailing the SCL format & schedule.
SCL Phase 2 2019 Relegations Format
DATES: June 15 – June 23
The relegation process for the next phase of the SMITE Console League will run from June 15, 2019 until June 23, 2019. We’ll kick things off with an open bracket in the first week, and then the top teams from each region will move into a closed bracket where they compete against the bottom-seeded Phase 1 teams from each region/platform.
The following regions are allowed to participate in the SCL relegations:
- North America
- Note: Players who have already qualified for the league are locked to the region and platform that they played on in Phase 1.
Here’s a full rundown of the format for the relegations circuit:
Part 1: Open Bracket Relegations (June 15 – June 16)
- 1 week of online play
The top two teams with the best overall record from the bracket will move on to the Relegations Group Stage, where they will compete against the bottom two seeded teams from Phase 1 of the SCL for their region/platform.
Part 2: Relegations Group Stage (June 22 – June 23)
- 1 week of online play
- Single round robin format
After making it through the open bracket portion of the tournament, the remaining teams from each region/console will compete against their respective lower-seeded teams from Phase 1.
The top two teams from each region/console will be promoted into the SCL — for a total of 8 qualified teams across Xbox and PS4 in North America and Europe.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN PHASE 2 RELEGATIONS
If you want to participate in the open bracket for our Console League Relegations, you’re welcome to sign up for the tournament in your region on your platform. Here’s a step-by-step guide on everything you need to do to get involved.
STEP 1: JOIN THE SCL DISCORD Server
If you’re planning to compete in the SCL 2019 relegations open bracket, the first thing you need to do is join the SMITE Console League Discord. This server will be used for all communications around the qualifiers — including sign-up reminders and chatting with tournament admins.
STEP 2: REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE FOR YOUR REGION AND PLATFORM
Once you’ve joined the Discord server, all you need to do is wait for registration to open. Your tournament admin will send out reminders to sign up when registrations are open. Sign-ups for each region and platform will take place on the days and times listed below:
- Europe — Saturday June 15 @ 10:00 AM ET (4:00 PM CET)
- North America — Sunday June 16 @ 10:00 AM ET (7:00 AM PT)
STEP 3: PLAY!
Once your team is checked in, your tournament administrator will use the Discord channel to communicate with all teams and run the open bracket. They will post a bracket for your team to see your matchup, then give you the rundown on all tournament rules and instructions on how to play your games.
SCL 2019 Relegations FAQ
Can I compete in the Console League relegations if I’m not a resident of North America or Europe?
No, only players who are legal residents of the NA or EU regions can participate in the SCL qualifiers.
I have previously participated in the SCL on Xbox or PS4. Can I participate for Phase 2 of 2019 on a different platform?
No, once you have qualified and participated in at least 4 league games in the SCL on one platform you are locked to that platform for the remainder of the season.
I have previously participated in the SCL in NA or EU. Can I participate for Phase 2 of 2019 in a different region?
No, you are restricted to the region in which you reside.
Are there any requirements I need to meet in order to compete in the qualifiers?
There are no level requirements for participating in our SCL qualifiers. However, you must have an account that is in good standing and be on a team of at least 5 members to participate.
I missed the check-in time! Can I still play in the tournament?
If you or your team misses the registration period before matches begin, you cannot participate in that week of the SCL open bracket.
I am subbing for a team who is at LAN. Am I locked to their roster and therefore unable to participate in the open bracket?
Players who are subbing for LAN-qualified teams are NOT locked to the roster they are subbing for. Those players will be allowed to compete in open bracket relegations.
My team is already qualified for the second week of relegations. Can I pick up any player to join my roster?
Teams that are automatically in relegations can only take players that are below them in seeding (meaning teams that will be competing in open bracket cannot take players that are automatically qualified into the league).
