SPL Phase 1 Playoffs: Format & Teams

Dates: June 12-14, 2020

Due to the ongoing situation around the COVID-19 virus, we will not be hosting the Phase 1 Playoffs in a LAN environment. Instead, the event will be hosted online like the rest of our regular season games thus far. This change will not impact the format for the event.

The Phase 1 Playoffs will use the following format:

  • Single-elimination bracket
  • Best-of-five (Bo5) matches all the way through
  • 1st and 2nd seeds from SPL Phase 1 will receive a BYE into the semifinals
    • 1st seed will also be allowed to select their semifinal opponent from the quarterfinal match winners
  • 3rd-6th seeds from SPL Phase 1 will play in the quarterfinals

Teams will earn SPL points and prizing based on their final placement in the Phase 1 Playoffs. The bottom two SPL teams who did not qualify for the event will earn no SPL points and no additional prizing for the Phase. A full breakdown of prizing and points is available in the next section.

All qualified teams from SPL Phase 1 have been locked in for this event. We’re excited to invite the following six teams to compete in our playoff event:

  • #1 Seed: Sanguine Esports
  • #2 Seed: Spacestation Gaming
  • #3 Seed: Ghost Gaming
  • #4 Seed: Pittsburgh Knights
  • #5 Seed: Radiance
  • #6 Seed: Renegades

The bracket for this event will be made available on our scores page.
