Hello SMITE esports fans!
Many of you know that the ongoing situation around COVID-19 has continued to worsen in many areas of the United States. Based on the information we currently have available to us, we have reason to believe that there is still a considerable health risk in resuming LAN operations at this time.
As such, Phase 2 of the SMITE Pro League will be hosted online until further notice. We realize that this is disappointing news for a number of fans, and our esports staff here at Hi-Rez are just as eager to return to a LAN environment as all of you are! But as always, we must prioritize the health and safety of our players and staff to ensure that the show can go on.
Our production team has made significant strides in improving our broadcast quality in a WFH setting, and we’re committed to continued improvements in this regard as we head into Phase 2. Our team has used the downtime between phases to test new solutions, add even more backup systems, and make major adjustments to our broadcast workflow so that we can provide our fans with the engaging viewership experience they deserve.
Once again, we’d like to thank our players, partner organizations, and fans for their understanding as we continue to seek out solutions in these unprecedented times.
When the SPL returns on July 24, we will resume our regular broadcast schedule of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 3:00 PM ET. Visit our schedule page or our sync-friendly calendar to make sure you don’t miss a single match!
Stay tuned to @SmitePro for more news and updates as we prepare to kick off Phase 2 of Season 7. We look forward to seeing all of you on stream for another round of epic pro SMITE action!
